About This Book

It is a beautiful book, painted in a thick, brushy, slightly
angular line, with a monchrome wash, and the occasional sparser panel
providing a bit of contrast. Basically it’s a comic about the relationship between a young woman and a somewhat unreliable young man. I’ll fill this out a bit more as I discover more!
I’m taking the first page of comics as page 1.

Panel 3

Good evening.

Panel 4

Excuse me, but can I ask you a question?

Panel 6

Are you waiting for someone?

Panel 8

And you?

Page 3

Panel 1

It makes me mad to wait…

Panel 3

You are meeting a woman?

Panel 5

I’m not waiting anyone.

Panel 7

What is it that’s bothering you exactly?

Page 4

Panel 1

Ah well, I’m waiting for this man.
He is late.
[There could have been a pun here, but I’ve not pursued it]

Panel 3

It often happens.

Panel 5

What are you afraid of?

Page 5

Panel 6

It looks like it’s my lucky day.

Page 6

Panel 2

- No it’s lower. [Non c’est plus bas]
- Ok, get in.
- Super, thanks a lot.

Panel 3

Neat car.

Panel 5

Hum… the seats are…

Panel 6

Comfortable!

Panel 9

I’m going to get out here.

Page 7

Panel 1

And then I say to the guy in the car…

Panel 2

Excuse me.

Panel 3

You have five minutes?
Why not!
[Not literal!]

Panel 4

You come here to swimm?!

Panel 5

The water is icy!!!

Panel 6

Pardon me?

Panel 7

The OCEAN!!! It’s freezing!

Page 8

Panel 1

Me, after the Summer, that’s more normal.
[don’t know if he’s supposed to be a bit drunk or something here]

Panel 2

You are brave!

Panel 3

I don’t think so.

Panel 4

Aah! modest with it!

Panel 5

That’s great.

Panel 6

He left…
Funny sort.

Page 9

Panel 3

You are late…

Panel 6

You… you were swimming?!
And so?

Panel 8

I need to talk to you.

Page 16

Panel 1

It’s not bad here

Panel 2

I’ve been coming here a long time.

Panel 3

All alone?

Panel 5

What are you looking at?

Panel 6

The bar.

Page 17

Panel 1

You get me something?

Panel 2

Of course.

Page 18

Panel 1

What would you like?

Panel 2

Hi… hello.

Panel 3

For me, it will be two beers!

Panel 6

We don’t kiss when we meet any more?
[This is a little awkward, but there’s no really good translation of ‘bise’]

Page 19

Panel 2

You came with…
Excuse me, that’s not my concern anymore.

Panel 3

No problem, whoever’s interested.

Panel 6

Good, you planning to serve me today?

Page 20

Panel 1

What are you playing at coming here?

Panel 3

I wish it were that simple.
We’ve been separated for how long now?

Panel 4

I too wish it were that simple.

Page 21

Panel 1

A toast?
No?

Panel 2

That smells disgusting? Is it fashionable?

Panel 3

You’re boring me.

Panel 4

Barman, the same again.

Panel 5

Stop!
Let me go!

Page 22

Page 23

Panel 1

What are we drinking to?
To nothing?

Panel 3

Who was that girl?

Panel 4

Who are you talking about?

Panel 5

There, she’s leaving, shame.

Panel 6

Where are you going?!

Panel 7

WHAT?! WHO DO YOU TAKE ME FOR?!

Page 24

Panel 1

Each time it’s the same thing…

Panel 2

I want to…

Page 25

Panel 4

Don’t lag like that. I’m cold!

Panel 6

WHAT?!

Panel 7

The keys are in your bag.

Panel 8

Ah shit!

Page 26

Panel 1

You know I saw you talking to him.

Panel 2

If it’s because of him that you are in this state, it’s a shame, above all that…

Panel 3

I’m here.

Panel 5

It’s not the time!!

Panel 6

Not the time…

Page 27

Panel 1

I ask myself sometime what good I do you.
I’m going to piss and then I’ll drive you home.

Panel 2

If you find the keys!

Page 28

Panel 2

Ah! But?!

Page 29

Panel 3

Not without me!

Panel 6

Walk man!

Page 30

Page 31

Page 32

Panel 2

Where have I put it?

Panel 3

To me my bicycle!

Panel 4

Bicycle…

Page 33

Panel 4

We are alone, young lady?

Panel 5

I don’t need you!

Panel 6

Ahhhh!

Page 34

Panel 7

Hu!

Page 35

Panel 1

What was that noise?

Panel 2

Come!

Panel 4

It’s…

Panel 5

...her again!

Page 36

Panel 2

Where are you going?!

Panel 5

I’ll be back.

Page 37

Panel 3

How do you feel?

Panel 5

Where are we going?

Panel 9

What are we doing in this car?

Panel 10

We’re moving.
[Don’t quite get this: “On agit”]

Page 38

Panel 1

Do you remember the beach?

Page 39

Panel 1

And the view?

Page 40

Panel 2

Why are we here?

Panel 3

It’s the only place appropriate.

Panel 4

You don’t understand?

Page 41

[Not quite clear on this page – it’s a little deranged]

Panel 4

Argh!

Panel 5

That’s not right!

Panel 6

I see you coming! Hop into thhe ravine!

Panel 7

I refuse!

Page 42

Panel 1

Weighs a tonne!

Panel 2

You’re not going to help me here?!

Panel 4

What is it you think you’re going to do!

Panel 6

Leave him!

Panel 9

Okay, and now?

Page 43

Panel 1

This is starting to get tiring.

Panel 4

If only I can…

Panel 5

roll away!

Panel 7

Ach…

Page 44

Panel 2

Yes, I’ve decided for you.

Panel 3

I’m involved like never before.

Panel 5

It suits you to make him disappear.

Panel 7

I’m off.

Panel 8

And you? Was it good when the car went over his body?

Page 45

[Again, not quite sure of this dreamlike little sequence]

Panel 3

Don’t listen to him.

Panel 4

What’s that stick for?!

Panel 6

Be careful with your words

Panel 7

and things will work out the same.

Panel 8

That’s easily said!

Page 46

Page 47

Page 48

Panel 1

We’ve done it….
We’ll be discreet and go along the cliff.

Panel 6

Are you ill?

Panel 7

Don’t touch me.

Panel 9

Shhh….

Page 49

Panel 4

I thought we were the only ones to know this place.

Panel 6

We go through the forest.

Page 50

Panel 5

Are you mad?!

Page 51

Panel 1

I c-can’t do it.

Panel 4

D-don’t p-panic…
