Comix Influx Blog: Press Release: Comix Influx iPhone App and Twitter feed at Angoulême Festival 2010

For many lovers of international comics, the year doesn’t start on January 1st, but instead at the annual Festival de la Bande Dessinée in Angoulême.

Comix Influx will be attending again this year, and we are launching two new, and dare I say exciting, services.

Comix Influx Reader iPhone App

Firstly, we have released the free Comix Influx Reader app for the iPhone. The app shows you all translations available on the Comix Influx website, so that while wandering around the tents in Angoulême you can check what translations are available before buying your comics. Then you will be able to retire to the comfort of your domicile to read your new purchases – translation on your iPhone in one hand, the original comic in the other. Search for Comix Influx on the iTunes App Store to download the application for free. We intend, of course, to launch equivalent apps on other mobile devices in the future.

Angoulême Twitter Feed

Secondly, Comix Influx will be tweeting the festival at http://twitter.com/comixinflux and we have just launched a new Twitter feed on the Comix Influx homepage which aggregates all Tweets by anyone who includes the #angou2010 hashtag in their message. This is a new experiment for Comix Influx, but the idea is that this will allow the people who are there to immediately know where the happeningest happenings are happening, and the people who can’t make it to hear what’s occuring as it’s occuring.

So if you are tweeting about the festival please consider using the #angou2010 hashtag, and if you want to follow all that’s going on either search for ’#angou2010’ on http://twitter.com or follow the feed on http://comixinflux.com.

We only allow the translated text to be uploaded – not the images from the comic – so that people still need the original comic in order to use the translation.
