Comix Influx Blog: Angoulême 2010!

Paul Gravett once told me that his New Year started not on the 1st January, but at the Angoulême Festival instead. Following his lead, all my new year’s resolutions about devoting more time on Comix Influx are kicking in around the launch of the festival.

Firstly, this is the first Angoulême where people will be able to use the Comix Influx Reader App on their iPhones to check which books have Comix Influx translations before buying them. They can then retire to their domiciles to read their purchases – translation on their iPhone in one hand, comic book in the other.

Additionally, Comix Influx will be tweeting the Angoulême festival. I’ve just launched a Twitter feed on the Comix Influx homepage, which (for the duration of the festival) will display everyone’s and anyone’s tweets that are tagged with the hashtag #angou2010. These are uncharted waters for me, but the idea is that it will allow the people who are there to immediately know where the happeningest happenings are happening, and the people who can’t make it to hear what’s occuring as it’s occuring. Thanks to Charlie Orr for the initial idea.

Once the craziness of the festival is over I have a bunch of new things in the pipeline. I have been working on integration with Facebook, so that updating a translation, or commenting on a translation or blogpost, you will have the option of that being noted on your Facebook status. There will also be a Comix Influx page, which will show all the updates on the site.

Additionally, I have new blogposts about Woodrow Phoenix’s trip to India late last year, and also an interview with Choi Juhyun, author of newly released Halme as well as Sous La Peau Du Loup (both published by Editions Cambourakis). What with Angoulême reports, and new translation of the books I find there, I expect the next couple of months to be a busy time for Comix Influx!
